CONGRATS TO OUR NOVEMBER TEACHER SALUTE WINNER... Mr. Craig Schutts!

Mr. Schutts is a 4th grade teacher at Lehigh Elementary in Walnutport! For being such a great teacher, Mr. Schutts won a pizza party for his class from Little Caesars and a day at the Spa from E Spa!

Mr. Schutts was nominated by parent: Bridget Kester and her daughter Julia.

This is what Bridget and Julia had to say about Mr. Schutts:

Mr. Schutts is definetly one of a kind. Most of the 3rd graders wait in anticipation at the end of the school year to see if their 4th grade teacher will be Mr. Schutts, the man with many faces. You might be wondering what I mean by that. Well there is French Guy, British Guy, Pirate Pete, Ducky, Aardvark Man, Miss Temper, The Magic Eraser, Stitch, and Schuttsdeeny. This man is a genius! He makes learning fun, interesting and a bit unusual. He is not afraid to step out of the box. I, myself, had the pleasure of witnessing French Guy yesterday during parent observation. He literally transforms himself (accent and all) into another character while somehow maintaining control of the classroom! Besides his many amusing characters, I observed that he is patient with all the children and tells many stories about his life outside of school. He listens attentively to the childrens own stories of there lives. Bravo Mr. Schutts...I've never met anyone quite like him!

We picked a December Winner!

Thursday 12-03-2009 5:26pm ET

CONGRATS TO OUR DECEMBER TEACHER SALUTE WINNER... Ms. Tina Colletta!

Ms. Colletta is a 5th grade teacher at Williams Township Elementary School in Easton! For being such a great teacher, Ms. Colletta won a pizza party for her class from Little Caesars and a day at the Spa from E Spa!

Ms. Colletta was nominated by her student Brooklyn Zukie and by Brooklyn's mom!

This is what Brooklyn's mom had to say about Ms. Colletta:

"Ms. Colletta is a wonderful teacher, she not only takes her time with the children but also lets them know it’s ok not to know the answer to a question. She is soft spoken and very attentive to the children. My daughter Brooklyn has had a “LD” in math for some time which has made going to school difficult for her. She was afraid of being made fun of for not knowing the answer, but now God Bless this teacher for whatever she does in class. My daughter is now passing her math class and comes home and does her math homework with no problem. She actually likes going to school…Which is a big difference from the years before. If we had more teachers like Ms. Colletta I think more children would have better self confidence. Letting children know that it’s ok to be wrong and that others may have the same question as you and that no question is silly…I think that is a wonderful way to speak to the children to let them know it’s ok to ask questions. We should have more teachers like her. And if anyone deserves to be nominated it would have to be Ms. Colletta."

She has a treasure box in her room and when we are kind to another student or do a good job on an assignment she lets us pick out a cool treat from the treasure box!! If we do all our homework and finish all our assignments she rewards us at the end of the month with a "Cool Cats" party. We get to watch a movie, have a snack, or do a craft just for doing our work! Mrs. Hooks makes school a fun place to be and I never want to be absent!! - Avery Atiyeh

Teacher Salute Winner for May 2010

Thursday 05-06-2010 1:12pm ET

Congratulations to our May 2010 Teacher Salute Winner:
Mrs. Kendra Bergman!

Mrs. Bergman is an 4th grade teacher at Alburtis Elementary School in Alburtis. For being such a great teacher, Mrs. Bergman has won a pizza party for her class from Little Caesar's Pizza and a day at the Spa from eSpa in Center Valley!

Mrs. Bergman was nominated by her student Benjamin Spear!

This is what a proud parent had to say about Mrs. Bergman:

Mrs. Bergman is a wonderful teacher because she is all about the kids and learning and working with the kids. She is always available to the kids and also to the parents. My son, Ben comes home from school every day and wants to listen and hear about all the great stories that she has told during the day. She encourages and believes that every child can be whatever they want to do. She loves to read and now my son is also a listener and a reader. That is because of Mrs. Bergman. My son was not so much into reading and now all he wants to do is read and learn from her. She has given my son a lesson of how to be a better student and also a person. He enjoys school and he never complains about the homework or reading assignments that he has to do. I hope that every child has a chance to have her teach them. She is a role model and also a great person. I am very blessed that Ben is in Mrs. Bergman’s class. She deserves to be the teacher pick and also she is going to change many children's lives. Reading was a challenge for my son, but now all he wants to do is read! She deserves every award in the world. Mrs. Bergman is the best! She is fun, but still a teacher that wants learning to be fun and that is what she does. Any child that has her for a teacher is blessed...they will have fun and still be learning at the same time. That is why I am nominating Mr. Kendra Bergman.
