Angelina Jolie has revealed she underwent a double mastectomy after genetic tests showed she had a high risk of developing breast cancer.

The actress had the surgery in February and completed the last of the follow-up procedures in April.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Director of Artistry, Jenn Karsten contributes her views on spring trends:

For Spring 2013 it’s all about minimalism. The looks are graphic, monochrome, and then there is a splash of cultural print injected in to shift dresses, kimono-style jackets and leathers of all texture and tone. It is more important than ever to make your total look an effort in styling.

PRO Tip: Play one signature feature off of perfected, sculpted skin and groomed perfect details. Black, white, camel, emerald green, lapis blue are the go-to colors to get it right.

Eyes: It’s a retro liner with a light matte lid and a softly sculpted crease. Liner is classic, black and tucked neatly into the roots. Use a cream black liner pot, MAKE UP FOR EVER – AQUA BLACK, and a small, firm liner or angle brush. Start by wiggling the liner in between the roots of lashes before you paint the line across the top. On top, always start in the center of lids to mark the width of the top line, then from outer corner sweep liner in to meet the mark. Finish the inner corners by sweeping liner in to meet the mark from the other side. It is easy as one, two, three! Don’t go over-dramatic by extending way out or flicking up the ends. Just keep it simple. Finish with a jet black mascara to “fan” the lashes, especially on ends. I like MAKE UP FOR EVER – SMOKY LASH.

Lips: Play a bold, over-saturated lip color off of sculpted cheeks and eyes. Try bold, bright fuchsias, electric oranges and cherry reds. Line, define and blot to perfect and make it last all day. Be careful when contouring the shape of your lips with lip liner to stay neatly tucked into the corners and only add extra volume in the center.
